DEBATE - Back to school: French education falling behind?

A reform to stretch out the French school week and lighten the number of hours a day in class meets with stiff resistance. Why do the French find it so hard to wean themselves off a strict diet of all-academics? What will help tomorrow's workforce find fulfilment... and jobs?

Peter GUMBEL. Author of "France's got talent";
Jean Rémy GIRARD. National Secretary, SNALC-FGAF teachers' union;
Johan TOLLGERDT. Journalist, Svenska Dagbladet;
